Muc Tieu:  The 36HR trip------- After Cathay lost my luggage yesterday, I thought the worst was over. I walked to the immigration counter in Manila and was second in line---my luck had changed for the better. That is until the officer stood up and went into the main office. Out came a smallish middle-aged man with pepper hair waving me to follow him. I obliged. The room was cramped and he asked me to sit on the torn black leather couch which has been seen heavy traffic over the years. He threw the passport onto a desk and spoke to his underling. The minutes grew slowly but thinking that I had 15 minutes before my bags came out, I was content enjoying the feel of the immigration room. But then I looked up only to see the supervisor play a video game on his government-issued puter. "How soon do you think I can leave?" "Sit down, sir." "Can you tell me what is wrong?" "Sit down, Sir" Persistence pays off but only if you are not guilty. I pressed and got an answer. "Your name matches the name on the blacklist." "Does it match my passport number or birth date?" "Sorry, we don't have that information AND you have to leave and return to HKG." I asked to speak to the PIC (Person in Charge) and was taken to him. He asked if I had any other identification and so I presented my CA driver's license. Little good it did. After trying to convince him that I was not an international spy but a simply engineer on a business trip for 30 minutes, he dismissed me and refused me entry. The next flight back to HKG was at 630AM. I talked the security guard assigned to make sure I stay in the Airport to allow me to take the 1230PM flight the next day instead to allow the necessary documents to prove my identity to get processed. The morning arrives and I have been staring at the transit lobby for 12 hrs straight. At 9AM, I received hope that I would be cleared for entry. Finally, at 1130, I gave up and was taken to the gate. When you are deported from a country, you board the plane first. I shook the security office??s hand and thanked him for his courtesy and help. By this time, 21 hrs had passed with no sleep. All in all, 36hrs before i could sleep...
Gio Ranh Roi:  My free time is typically used for reading, tennis---the usual stuff.
Toi La:  down to earth...lover writers. I have a lot of stamps in my passport but mostly from work...someday, I will stop to see that heritage site, take an elephant ride or ride the gondola. I work a lot and rarely have time to go out. Some say to make time so here is me trying. :) Strands of grey growing effortlessly :) One of the best things is that I have family in Italy, France, Germany, Norway, and Canada---many places to stay when i want to leave the country for some R&R.
Tim Kiem:  Friends first and foremost. Now if you want to know my ideal woman---she has flaws but understands life and what she wants. She should be independent, can take sarcasm, can travel, and no nonsense.
